What are the different functions and features of the following applications?










a. Microsoft Office
          Microsoft Office is a collection of computer programs made by Microsoft Corporation. It includes several applications such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Access, Onenote, Outlook, Infopath and Groove.
               


b. M.S. Excel
                Microsoft Excel, a part of the Microsoft Office Suite, is a spreadsheet application that allows users to store, manipulate and graph data. It includes formulas, lets users make their own formulas and even uses programming (Visual Basic) to personalize every bit of the program. Excel allows users to perform calculations like in a calculator and at the same time manipulate texts just like a word processor.








c. M.S. Word
                Microsoft Word is another program within Microsoft Office Suite which is for word processing. It includes the ability to arrange manually entered or digitally copied text and images into a digital document. Word allows the users to easily enter, delete or alter words, sentences and paragraphs with its user – friendly interface. It has a variety of useful features such as spell check and grammar check which are automatically activated and thus allows users to check for proper spellings, punctuations, sentence structures and other grammar issues of their documents. The copy, cut and paste features allow the users to copy text or images from various sources and directly paste it into the Word document. Users are also allowed to have customized graphs and tables in Word. Altering the texts font style, size and color are also easily allowed in M.S. Word. Several templates are incorporated into the program that offer the ability to create customized resumes, letterheads, address labels and many other useful documents.




d. M.S. Powerpoint
                Microsoft Powerpoint allows users to create virtual slide show presentations displaying text, images, shapes and videos. Customization features for PowerPoint let users add animated effects to the content and transitions between slides, such as fading slides in and out. Sound clips can be inserted to play audio during presentations, as well as video clips. Slides are printable for use as handouts and projector transparencies. Users can edit, add and delete slides as needed.







e. M.S. Publisher
                Microsoft Publisher is a desktop publishing program that allows users to create professional-quality publications. The program offers many options for design and fonts, and it can be used to create magazines, newsletters, pamphlets, brochures and more. Publisher lets users import pictures and text and arrange them for publication. The program's interface offers numerous effects and options for both images and text, including reflections and softer shadows. It includes several templates to choose from depending on what the user needs to publish. Microsoft Publisher lets users import photographs, graphics, letters and other personal documents. Once uploaded, users alter the color, shading, borders, text and other features using Publisher's tools. This program offers a set of standard tools that lets users experiment with contrasting colors, shades, size and more. It saves graphic images in high resolutions, making them appear polished and glossy.



f. Adobe Reader
                Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free program creates by Adobe Systems which allows the user to view, create, manipulate, print and manage files in Portable Document Format or PDF. PDFs can be a wide variety of files, such as images, text documents, forms, books, or any combination of these.





g. Google
                Google, Google Search or Google Web Search is a web search engine owned by Google, Inc. It is the most used search engine all around the globe. Google Search provides several features beyond searching for words. These include synonyms, weather forecasts, time zones, stock quotes, maps, earthquake data, movie show times, airports, home listings, and sports scores. There are special features for numbers, dates, and some specific forms, including ranges, prices, temperatures, money and measurement unit conversions, calculations, package tracking, patents, area codes, and language translation. In June 2011 Google introduced "Google Voice Search" to search for spoken, rather than typed, words.



h. Internet Explorer
                Internet Explorer or Microsoft Internet Explorer is a web browser bundled with the Microsoft Windows operating system. IE offers users many of the features of competing browsers, including tabbed browsing, support for cascading style sheets, RSS feeds and the promise of increased security against malware.








i. Windows Media Player

                Windows Media Player (WMP) is a media player and media library application developed by Microsoft that is used for playing audio, video and viewing images on personal computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system, as well as on Pocket PC and Windows Mobile–based devices.
