1. What are the effects of innovations of technology in education?
Technology is
advancing every day. Whether we like it or not, our lives are affected by its
advancements, especially our education. If properly used, technology is a very
useful tool in education.
Integrating technology
in education is now a trend. Most educational systems around the world make use
of the different innovations of technology. Studies show that schools which
utilize these innovations produce a more effective teaching and learning
environment. In these schools, learners have every resource they need in their
studies at their reach. Because of the internet, all the information they would
possibly need is just a click or tap away.
These innovations
in technology also promote the student – centered learning environment which is
proven to be an effective way of learning. Teachers could now provide a variety
of instructional materials that could make their teaching more interesting and
fun. However, we should keep in mind that we must only make use of technology
for the betterment of the future generation.
2. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of a 21st century classroom. Site an example.
A 21st century classroom utilizes
the latest innovations of technology available to both the teacher and the
learners. There are a lot of advantages in a classroom setting of a 21st
century classroom. One of which is that it is student – centered. In this type
of set – up, students and the instructional materials do the learning, while
the teacher facilitates in the sideline. This has been proven to be an
effective strategy in learning in the sense that the learners are encouraged to
make use of their own intellect while being supplemented by the teacher. Gone were
the traditional ways where the teacher does the lecture and the learners don’t seem
to have a say in the subject matter. The only problem that results in this
setting is that most of the values that a learner should possess are taken for
granted. Back at the traditional classroom, the students respect their teacher.
Today, the very word “respect” seems to be an issue to the students. Learners
of today get too dependent on technology that the value of a teacher is most of
the time forgotten. Therefore, even though we are enjoying the benefits of the
technologies as of the moment, we should not forget the core values that make
us a good person, whether we are a student or teacher.
